About this product

The suit for the back half of a Tasmanian summer. Three layers — mesh outside, mesh
inside, and a spacer between them — so air moves through the suit instead of sitting
against you, and the fabric is held off your skin rather than lying flat on it.

If you have ever finished a January inspection wringing wet and short of patience, this is
what fixes it. You work longer, you rush less, and the bees get a calmer beekeeper.

Khaki, with the same round hat veil as our cotton suit — it holds its shape away from
your face so the mesh stays off your nose and your view of the frame stays clear. Made to our
specification and finished with the Frogmouth Ponds bee embroidered on the chest.

What you get

  • Full-length one-piece suit in three-layer ventilated fabric.
  • Attached round hat veil, 380 mm, with a two-way zip to the collar.
  • Elasticated wrists and ankles.
  • Chest and hip pockets.
  • Thumb loops to hold the sleeves down as you reach into a box.
  • Frogmouth Ponds logo embroidered on the chest.
  • Supplied in a reusable Frogmouth Ponds zip storage bag.

Ventilated or cotton?

Take the ventilated suit if you are working through the heat of the season, running more
than a couple of hives, or you simply feel the heat. Take the
cotton suit if you are starting out, working mostly in
spring and autumn, or you would rather put the difference toward another box. Both use the same
veil and the same sizing.

Choosing a size

Measure your chest at its fullest point just under the arms, and from the bone at the back of
your neck down the spine to your ankle. Between two sizes, take the larger.
The air gap is the point of this suit — do not size it snug.

Size Chest Back neck to ankle hem Suits a height of about
Small 118 cm / 46.4″ 166 cm / 65.3″ 5′3″
Medium 121 cm / 47.6″ 169 cm / 66.5″ 5′5″
Large 126 cm / 49.6″ 172 cm / 67.7″ 5′7″
XL 128 cm / 50.3″ 176 cm / 69.2″ 5′10″

Allow ±2 cm on all measurements.

Kids’ sizing

Suiting up a young beekeeper? Kids’ suits run 3XS–L and are measured the same two
ways — chest at the fullest point, and from the bone at the back of the neck down to the
ankle. Between two sizes, take the larger.

Size Chest Back neck to ankle hem
3XS 76 cm / 30″ 114 cm / 45″
2XS 81 cm / 32″ 119 cm / 47″
XS 86 cm / 34″ 124 cm / 49″
S 97 cm / 38″ 124 cm / 49″
M 102 cm / 40″ 134 cm / 53″
L 102 cm / 40″ 140 cm / 55″

Kids’ suits are made to order — sizes and ordering are on the kids’ suit page.

Looking after it

Unzip and remove the veil before washing. Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle, line dry in
the shade. Do not tumble dry, bleach or iron the mesh. Wash it more often than you think —
alarm pheromone lingers in the fabric, and a clean suit gets a calmer reception.

Not sure of your size? Send us your two measurements and we will pick the size for you.
