Beekeeping Gloves — 3-Layer Ventilated

Soft white leather on the hand, and a long sleeve in the same three-layer ventilated fabric
as our suit and jacket — mesh outside, mesh inside, a spacer between. Your forearms are
not sealed inside a sweaty gauntlet for an hour, which is the usual reason gloves come off
halfway through an inspection.

The sleeve runs most of the way to the elbow and gathers on elastic at the top, so it sits
under a jacket cuff and stays there while you lift a box. The leather is thin enough that you
can still feel a frame and pick up a queen cage without taking them off.

Choosing a size

Measure across your palm at the knuckles, excluding the thumb, and compare with the glove
width below. If you are between sizes, take the larger — a tight bee glove is a glove you
will take off, and that defeats the point.

Looking after them

Wipe the leather clean and let them dry in the shade, away from heat. Do not machine wash or
tumble dry — leather stiffens and cracks. Wash them more often than you think anyway:
alarm pheromone lingers, and gloves cop the most of it.
